How to win Friends and Influence People: Part 1, Principle 2

In part to Carnegie discusses the effects of praise versus criticism.  He claims that any person who is given praise for what they do well will naturally try to do better in all things.  But that those who never hear appreciation for their deeds will grow discouraged, and perform pourly.  As a parent this is something I can definately identify with.  When I was potty training my daughter i noticed that she was much more successful when I encouraged and praised her progress.  When I would get frustraited at her for an "accident" she would regress.  She needed me to help her feel proud of herself for learning self control.
