How to Win Friends and Influence People: Part 1, Principle 3

In this section, the author discusses that to get someone to do what you want them to, you must first arouse in them a desire to do it.  Again, I see this so obviously in my parenting.  My oldest daughter is four and occasionally she claims she cannot sleep in her bed.  If I choose to force her, she will holler and cry until she wakes her younger sister up and then no one is going to bed.  However, I discovered that if when she came to me with the "I can't sleep," story, I gave her one of my own shirts for her to sleep in, she jumped back in bed with a smile.
